HOW TO GENERATE A CSR IN CISCO ACS 4.2
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR CISCO SECURE ACS 4.2
1. First, select System Configuration.
2. Second, press ACS Certificate Setup. Then, select Generate Certificate Signing Request.
3. Once on the Generate Certificate Signing Request window, type in the necessary information within the Certificate Subject option. Make sure to include a comma between each field.
Country Name (C): Make sure to use the ISO code for your country without any punctuation.
State or Province (S): Type in the state or province where your organization is located. Refrain from using any abbreviations.
Locality or City (L): Type in the city where the organization is located.
Organization (O): Type in the name that is legally registered with the organization. Be aware that you cannot use special characters.
Organizational Unit (OU): This is the name of the department that will be using the CSR. For example: Technical Support
Common Name (CN): This represents the host and domain for the CSR.
4. Within the Private Key File, enter in the name of the file where the private key is saved. For example: C:\privatekeyfile.pem
5. Then, in the private key password window make a password. Be sure to write it down for future reference.
6. Verify the password that you typed in again for the Private Key, and under the Key Length menu click 2048 bit.
7. Next, under the Digest to Sign With menu click SHA-256. However, if SHA-256 is not available select SHA-1 to use for the CSR.
8. Select Submit.
9. Next, locate the Cisco Secure ACS on the right side of the screen to view the CSR. Then, copy and paste the entire CSR into a text editor (Like Notepad or Vi) and save the file with .TXT.
10. When you go to enroll your certificate, you will be prompted to select a server. Be sure to select then Apache-HTTP Server. Next, when it is time to enter the CSR utilize the text editor to open the CSR file. Then, submit the CSR and be sure to include the header and footer lines as well.
