Need to Secure Multiple Domains?
What is an SSL Certificate?
Secure Socket Layer (n): aka SSL; a form of digital security which allows for a secure transfer of sensitive data over the internet.
As society’s dependence on technology increases, so does the odds of one’s personal data being compromised. In an effort to combat these concerning risks, a Secure Socket Layer Certificate, or SSL Certificate, uses cryptography to transmit data securely over the web.

DV, OV, and EV Certificates
Domain Validation
DV or Domain Validated certificates require the least amount of validation and are usually the least expensive. The reason for this is that only domain control is verified and nothing about the identity or location of the site owner is validated. DV certificates are for encryption only, when trust of the website or it’s owner are not relevant.
Organization Validation
OV or Organization Validated certificates require more extensive validation than DV certificates, and provide more trust because the identity of the site owner is verified. For OV certs, the Cerificate Authority will verify the organization legal name that is attempting to get the certificate. The organization’s name is also listed in the certificate, giving added trust that both the website and the company are reputable. OV certificates are used by legally registered entities that want to provide an extra layer of confidence to their site visitors.
Extended Validation
Recommended For eCommerce and High Visibility Sites, Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates display the organization legal name and location in the issued certificate details and display a green domain name and/or the organization legal name in the URL bar. with the highest industry standard for authentication and provide the best level of customer trust available. In addition to validating domain control, the Extended Validation process includes verifying the registered name, address, location and operational status of an organization, as well as the name and title of the employee requesting the certificate.
