Generating a SSL Certificate in Microsoft Exchange 2007
1. First, begin by Downloading and Opening the ZIP File in which contains your individual Certificate. The Certificate file will be saved under: your_domain_name.cer.

2. Next, Copy your Certificate file: your_domain_name.cer to the C drive on the Exchange Server.

3. At this point you should OPEN the Exchange Management Shell which can be accomplished by Clicking on the START Menu, Clicking on Programs and then Selecting Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. This will then take you to the Exchange Management Shell where you should OPEN.

4. Next, Run the Import-ExchangeCertificate and Enable-ExchangeCertificate commands TOGETHER. Both of these COMMANDS are Run on the same line. Type the following as shown: Import-ExchangeCertificate -Path C:\your_domain_name.cer | Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Services "SMTP, IMAP, POP, IIS" Replace the domain file name with the specific information that pertains to your individual Company.

5. Run the Get-ExchangeCertificate Command for verification that the actual certificate is active and enabled. Type: [PS] C:\> Get-ExchangeCertificate -DomainName your.domain.name. Next, Under Thumbprint type: 136849A2963709E2753214BED76C7D6DB1E4A270; and Under Services Type SIP.W (Which stands for SMTP, IMAP, POP3 and Web IIS). Then under Subject type: CN=your.domain.name

6. Next, test your Certificate by Connection to the specific Server using IE, ActiveSync or Outlook. Some of the ISA's will require you to re-start your server before it will be completed. So, if you are experiencing issues, first try to re-boot your server.
