Mac OS X Mavericks Server (10.9): How to Install your SSL Certificate


1. First, select the Zip file with your SSL Certificate and save it (yourdomain_com.crt) to your desktop on your Mac Server. Be sure to keep the folder open in order to access your SSL certificate and the DigiCert Intermediate Certificate (DigiCertCA.crt) files later.

2. Select the Server App. It is located in Finder, under the Favorites menu look for and click on the Applications button. Then, select Server.

3. Within the SERVER APP, listed under CHOOSE A MAC there are two choices to click based on which server you want to install your SSL Certificate:

It is important to choose the server that you used when establishing your CSR.

To install the SSL Certificate on this server:

i. Click THIS MAC- YourServerName and then press CONTINUE.

ii. Type in your ADMINISTRATOR NAME and ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD, then press CONNECT.

To install the SSL Certificate on a different server:

i. Click OTHER MAC and then press CONTINUE.

ii. Type in HOST NAME/IP ADDRESS, your ADMINISTRATOR NAME and ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD, then press CONNECT.

4. Within the Server screen, select the Certificates option located under the Server list.

5. Once on the Certificate’s page, select the Pending certificate that you originally made when creating the CSR.

6. Still on the Certificate’s page (i.e. www.yourdomain.com), listed beneath Certificate Files there is the option to “Drag files received from your certificate vendor here” box. This is where you will put your SSL Certificate (yourdomain_com.crt) and the DigiCertCA.crt files.

Then, press and hold the command key while clicking on both files and drag them to the box and release them there.

Select OK

7. Press OK.

ASSIGNING THE CERTIFICATE


8. Within the Server window, located under Server, press Certificates.

9. Once on the Certificates page, select Custom located under the “Secure Services Using” list.

10. Next, in the Service Certificates screen, locate the Certificate menu and click your new SSL Certificate for each Service you want to assign it.

For example, from the Certificate menu you will choose “Websites (Server Website-SSL)” to click your new SSL Certificate.

11. Once you are done, press OK.

12. Your SSL Certificate has now been installed and assigned to your Services.
